…just another hippy post

Bad News!!

I have finally managed to write a post about the new blog. Yes, the blog has a new (work -in-progress) theme and it has been moved to a new server with a custom WordPress installation.

So this post is about PHP (it sucks), Wordpress (it’s php, thus it sucks), flickr (it rocks - but I worked hard and found a couple of things that suck), me going to marry wynona and lots of bikinis.

As to a recent poll, 50% of raccoons bent on world domination believe that talking about bikinis in a blog is a good thing.
As to the same poll, 99% of the raccoons that will actually be trying to take over the world tonight says that wynona should get married to the author of this post.

Ok, it’s a long time since my last post. I was busy reading Rat-Man comics and drinking coffee as usual, sorry :)

Moving all the posts has been a real PITA - specially because Blogsome uses WP 1.x which has no export mechanism. The admin interface in WordPress 2.2 has been improved quite a lot and I like it, but I still can’t understand why the WYSIWYG/WTF editor keeps stripping the tags I need and adding tags I don’t want. Come on, if it has a “code” view, I should be supposed to enter all the f**** code I want and the editor should keep it! But no, it will remove tags or line breaks and add <tags> at his pleasure!!

Editing a template still sucks. Mainly because WP == PHP …and don’t come and tell me it’s not. Most PHP based template systems and CMSes are a bunch of PHP files and functions.

Nevertheless, I have even managed to add a custom error page (hacking WP of course - I told ya it sucks ;-) ) and to make a couple of things work.

It still needs some minor aesthetic changes, but it looks quite good to me.
The template is based on fSpring by Fredrik Fahlstad, but I changed most of the CSS.

Btw. I am no longer using flickr’s “send to blog” feature. It’s pretty useful but there is no way to customize the layout the way I want it (i.e. flickr will just place it’s damn style attributes in the HTML tags).

That’s all folks. May the cows be with you.

PS: I have just realized that PHP totally lacks Unicode support. That’s great. Now I have 42389612 + 1 reasons to hate that “language” [that 42 has not been typed on purpose, believe me]. I’m still wondering how it could become so popular.
